Safety Audits
A single workplace accident can be devastating. Someone can be injured… or
even killed. Property, equipment or materials can be damaged or destroyed.
And work could come to a complete standstill. All of these things can happen
if efforts are not made to protect employees.
One way to accomplish this is to conduct a safety audit. This is an
examination of the work area to make sure it is as safe as possible and all
potential hazards are corrected or removed.
Worksafe BDA informs employees about the goals of a safety audit, and how
all workers should become involved.
Topics covered in Safety Audits include:
A workplace analysis.
Administrative controls.
Engineering controls.
Personal protective equipment.
Emergency response procedures.
Regulatory compliance, safety and health training.
Accident investigation.
A safety self-assessment.
Inspections
A safety inspection looks for safety hazards and unsafe practices throughout a
facility. The inspection should:
Determine whether safeguards are in place
Examine whether the equipment presents any hazards
Observe work practices to identify unsafe actions
Once recognized, any hazards present can be rectified, eliminated, or
accounted for.
Fire Service Risk Assessment
The Fire Service Risk Assessment form has to be completed in conjunction
with the Fire Act by the property owner or facilities manager. It entails a
detailed description of the premises, fire systems including alarm system &
fire pumps water supply. sprinkler system and the building fire plan.
If your facility does not have a fire plan we can write one for you.
Worksafe Bda is here to assist you in completing your Fire Risk Assessment
and submitting the documentation to the Bermuda Fire Rescue Service on
your behalf.
